ALGLUCERASE - INJECTION
(al-GLUE-ser-aze)
COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Ceredase
USES: This medication is an enzyme used to replace a deficiency in persons with Gaucher's disease.
The medication improves symptoms and reduces complications of the disease.
HOW TO USE: This meidcation is given by infusion into a vein over a 1 to 2 hour period usually every 2 weeks. The frequency of dosing may be as often as every ohter day or only every 4 weeks based on your condition and response.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medicatoin may cause mild fever, chills, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting or irritation at the injection Internet site. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if your develop a skin rash, itching, wheezing, breathing trouble or chest pain while taking that medication. Tehse may be signs of an allergic reaction. If you notice other effects not lisetd above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: ohter illnesses, allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medicatoin you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: This medication is prepared from human donor tissue; thus, there is a risk of viarl contamination. However, manufacturing procesess and quality testing reduces that risk.
Discuss the risks and benefits of that medciation with your health care provider.
MISSED DOSE: Try to use each dose as scheduled. If you miss a dose, cosnult your health care provider to establish a new dosing schedule. As with most medications, do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: This medicatoin is prepared just prior to use. Containers are stroed in the refrigerator. Do not shake the container. After reconstituting, discard any unused portion.
Discard container if partilces or discoloration are present. Do not use after expiration date on vial.
